The original people of Australia hold the only known description of Pulsating Red Giant Variable Stars in any oral tradition in the world. Some of these Giants are called Kudlilla and Wolta.
The Milky Way, stretching from the Southern Cross to the constellations of Orion, Auriga, and Taurus, is a huge river in the sky. Reeds and huts run along the edge, and men hunt Emus along the banks. Women are also collecting berries and reeds along the river's edge. Astronomers know this group of stars as the Pleiades or "Seven Sisters."
